Inspired by the legacy of thinkers like Carter G. Woodson, W.E.B. Du Bois, Benjamin E. Mays, Dorothy Height, Mary McLeod Bethune, and the many Howard University scholars and educators who established spaces for rigorous scholarship, including The Journal of Negro Education, this piece stands as a celebration of Black scholarship as both achievement and responsibility.
Negro Scholar is a tribute to the brilliance, discipline, and intellectual legacy of Black people who pursued knowledge in a world that often tried to deny it. This design honors the historians, educators, theologians, organizers, and visionaries who preserved our story, challenged injustice, and built institutions that strengthened Black communities across generations. From those who learned in secret to those who taught in classrooms, churches, and freedom movements, Negro Scholar affirms that Black intellect is not an exception, it is a tradition. Wear it as a statement of pride, purpose, and unapologetic academic excellence.
